About this song
Pachelbel's Canon, written around 1700 over a repeating eight-chord bass line. These are the first three violin phrases, written at half speed so each chord lasts two beats. Below the chords are the melody notes.
How to play it: Two chords per bar (D A, Bm F#m, G D, G A). Arpeggiate each one slowly, or strum once per chord and let it ring.
Lead: D major (D E F# G A B C#). The first phrase walks down the D major scale from F# to A, one note per chord, then climbs back to C#.
